Budget

The Parish Council sets an annual budget. The funding to meet budgeted expenditure is collected by Maldon District Council through the Council Tax on behalf of the Parish Council. The Parish Council precepts on the District Council for the amount of funding required.

Accounts and Audit

Under the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014 smaller authorities (those with income or expenditure not exceeding £25,000) are exempt from an annual routine external audit. They do however, in line with the Local Audit (Smaller Authorities) Regulations 2015, still need to advertise the right of members of the public to inspect the accounts. They also need to meet the requirements of the Transparency Code for Smaller Authorities.

Tolleshunt Major Parish Council meets the requirement to be classed as a smaller authority. Accordingly, the annual documentation required to be published in relation to the accounts and audit are set out below.

The internal audit of the year ending 31 March 2020 has now been completed and all necessary accounts and documents were approved at the meeting of 21 July 2020. The documents below show the years 2019/20 and 2018/19. If you require information for prior years’ please contact the clerk.
